Twitterific writing links are fed into the Writer’s Knowledge Base search engine (developed by writer and software engineer Mike Fleming) which has over 56,000 free articles on writing related topics. It’s the search engine for writers.

Have you visited the WKB lately?  Check out the new redesign where you can browse by category, and sign up for free writing articles, on topics you choose, delivered to your email inbox!  Sign up for the Hiveword newsletter here.

The Top Writing Links From Last Week Are On Twitterific: Share on X
  1. You always provide the most interesting links, Elizabeth – thanks! The one that got me interested was the one about noir fiction. It’s a good question, actually: How much real/grit is too raw? The balance between being realistic and being too gritty is tricky, especially in (sub)genres that attract readers who don’t care for explicitness. Those readers still want credible characters and plots, though, so I think it’s important not to make a story too ‘frothy.’ It is, as I say, not always an easy balance.

    1. It really is a tough one. Mystery, as a genre, encompasses such a wide range of material–from gritty to cozy. Getting it right is a tricky balance and probably involves a lot of reading in a subgenre.
